Subject: [Leica] Aperture
This is an info for Aperture users out there...
This happens very rarely, but if it happens, beware! I decided to move my
Mac from OS X 10.4 tO 10.5 and do a clean install. Normaly this is not a
problem at all, but this time... After installing all the software and
moving my data, I had problems opening my aperture libraries because of
wrong permissions. This seemed very strange since my libraries are on
seperate harddrives and I everything alse was the same, but it happened.
The only way to remedy this is to repair permissions from within Aperture, I
tried to do this with other tools - it didn't work. To repair permissions
from within Aperture, you have to press the opt & cmd keys when opening a
library and verify the coherence. And here is the warning: IT TAKES A VERY
LONG TIME. I have started the process 2 days ago and I'm only at 65% of my
library (400+ Gb)!
Next time I shall recover my libraries from a backup, that should be less
time consuming!
All the best from the south of France!
Tarek
