Keep an eye on the site of the tick bite. If it develops a pattern of rings
that looks a little like a bulls eye target, have your doctor check you for
lyme disease. Another symptom is chills and fever that make you feel like
you are catching the flu. Lyme disease is endemic in the northeast and is
rapidly spreading to other parts of the country. Most cases can be cured by
a week long treatment with antibiotics but some cases take more aggressive
treatment. Lyme disease affects the joints, and if untreated will mimic a
severe case of arthritis. There may also be memory loss and mental problems.
The disease is spread by ticks which winter over on deer and other furry
animals. Everyone in our neighborhood has had a case, including me. It's all
Bambi's fault.

I shot some day lilies in a corner of our yard on Wednesday, and posted an
image.  As I noted on another list this morning, a couple of hours later I
pulled a tick from my hairy leg.  I'm sure he came from the lily patch.
This morning, since the bite site was red, I went to my doctor and got an Rx
for some antibiotics.
