I have been trying to get a good close shot of her underway for at least two years. COMET is a modern aluminum jet-drive version of the 1920s commuter boats Wall Street scions once used to get from their summer homes in Oyster Bay, Long Island, to their offices downtown when it was simply too hot to stay in the City anymore. She'll do 30 knots. I caught a glimpse of her distinctive bow out of the corner of by eye no more that 70 or 80 feet away yesterday afternoon as we were finishing up a long afternoon of sailing and were just rounding Nobska Point on our way home. I thought I had taken my last picture of the day. So, Ted Grant, are you listening??? It was, "Oh, jeez.... look at that, camera out of the sink (that's the only safe place to leave it), power on, up to eye, zoom back, half press for focus and six quick shots before she was gone. It all took about 15 seconds. I got at least three good ones out of the set, I think, but here's the best one.
