And silver gelatin is on the list for sure. People, including E Weston who were were just talking about enlarged to 8x10. But that's a loss of a generation. When you simply "output to film negative" in effect from a Photoshop file it does not feel like you are adding a generation to the process. You don't feel like you're loosing anything in a translation or transformation. -- Mark William Rabiner mark at rabinergroup.com > From: Tina Manley <images at comporium.net> > Reply-To: Leica Users Group <lug at leica-users.org> > Date: Sun, 1 Aug 2010 11:10:07 -0400 > To: Leica Users Group <lug at leica-users.org> > Subject: Re: [Leica] AA or Uncle Earl? > > You can do that digitally today: > > http://www.alternativephotography.com/books/db_diginegs.html > > <http://www.alternativephotography.com/books/db_diginegs.html>Tina > > On Sun, Aug 1, 2010 at 1:42 AM, Mark Rabiner <mark at rabinergroup.com> > wrote: > >> I am totally mesmerized by the "idea" of making 8x10 contact prints and am >> intrigued that other than Ed Weston none of them it seems did that but >> projection printed the negs even when making 8x10 sized prints. >> Ever hear about the self masking thing that a contact print has? >> Each grain self masks itself from the light bouncing around the room . >> That's what gets me.
