Ten boats participated, an excellent turnout considering that these boats are almost all well over fifty years old. The boat is a heavily-ballasted, full-keel design twenty-seven feet on deck. They are among the most beautiful boats on the water, no surprise since they were designed and built by "Capt. Nat" Herreshoff, the "Wizard of Bristol." The boat on port had to take all those sterns before tacking to the mark. http://gallery.leica-users.org/v/rtaylor/PICKS/2010_boating/300_8289.jpg.html or http://tinyurl.com/29he3uv On the leeward leg, two boats so close together they look like one: http://gallery.leica-users.org/v/rtaylor/PICKS/2010_boating/300_8333.jpg.html or http://tinyurl.com/2cgoc44 This looks dangerous but it's actually quite safe and one of the most comfortable places to sit on board. http://gallery.leica-users.org/v/rtaylor/PICKS/2010_boating/300_8347.jpg.html or http://tinyurl.com/37243tq And, finally, three boats with chutes up approaching the leeward mark. http://gallery.leica-users.org/v/rtaylor/PICKS/2010_boating/300_8374.jpg.html or http://tinyurl.com/2f5ard2 Most of these are heavy crops since we had to stay well clear of the racers.
