I have the E-1, and the E-3 is already legendary. I use the Panasonic Lumix DMC-L1 more often because it seems more idiot-proof. Everyone seems to be waiting for a successor to the E-3, but other than the weather-proofing and the incredibly rugged build, the less expensive camera bodies are apparently great. Inasmuch as dSLR bodies seem to have an expiration date (technology-wise), it seems to be a good idea to go with excellent lenses...and bodies that will be excellent until the next bodies come into production. Regarding the recent thread on compact cameras, I found it ironic that the stock photo companies seem to be more concerned with the bodies rather than the lenses. The Pentax and Olympus choices of "acceptable" cameras had the advantage of weather-proofing.
