The glossy screens 'look better' (in the same way that out of camera JPEGs can vs. default Raw) because the contrast is higher due to the glossiness and it is typically much too high for simulating print output as well. The brightness levels are (by default) much too high for photo editing as well. Mac don't make the displays themselves of course. Please note that this is not an "anti-Mac" post, no need for noses to be discombobulated ;-) I'm sure that many people work just fine with them and they ought to be excellent for video and many other main stream functions as well. This is purely about the most accurate display for photo editing for printing and the much reduced DMax of papers that you are trying to simulate.
