It depends on the amount of sugar used I guess. I don't like them too sweet
myself.

The quality of Chai in US is all over the place. One coffee house around
here does it without sugar at all but with some bitter spices other than or
in addition to cardamom. A lot of shops use a commercial mix such as the
Oregon chai brand, which tastes fine. One reason we patronize Starbuck even
though normally we normally eschew chain stores is because at least their
chai is mostly consistently good enough.

The best chai around here, IMHO, is from a place called Tandorii Oven. They
have "bottomless" chai. yummy.
