I don't use UV filters ever - except on the M8.  That's a totally different
case.  Those are UV/IR filters made especially to take care of the magenta
blacks that sometimes occur with the M8.  The only time I use them with the
M8 is if I might be photographing somebody wearing black polyester.  Black
wool is fine.  Black silk is fine.  Black polyester is magenta without the
special UV/IR filters.  It affects a few other colors, too, in special
circumstances.  You don't need it if you're going to convert your photos to
B&W.
