It's a dance, whether on the street or with a tiny creature on the window, always moving (hopefully with the subject) to maintain framing and focus distances. Everything is moving and changing. And as Ted so often says, "When you "see" the photograph - click." (paraphrasing) You just don't get to see the "failures" when toes gets stomped on during the dance.
