The other SLR bodies are really not targeted at loooong time Nikon users who would possess AI/AIS lenses. BTW, Leica would have no problem in finding enough manufacturers worldwide who would make the batteries for them if they so wish, after all it is hardly something difficult to make. The reality is that they do not wish to do so.
