Thanks, Daniel,

I saw maybe the same Apple page you looked up and it gave me the  
confidence to order 4 GB or RAM in matched pairs from Crucial.  My Mac  
was indeed bought in late 2008.

I'll have two 1 GB sticks of original Apple RAM to give away fro the  
price of postage to anyone who has a good use for them.  Anyone who  
wants them, drop me a line on or off list.
