Actually, the correct present 1st person singular (dictionary form in
Classical Greek) is, as Sonny wrote, e)mble/po (let's get the
breathing marks and accent in there as long as we're at it). The
preposition "e)n" -> "e)m-" as a form of labialization due the the "b"
(try and pronounce "n" and "b" together and see what happens ... the
"n" becomes "m" since the lips are preparing for the "b").

The aorist adds an augmentive "e" in front of the main part of the
compound "ble/po" and then the "e)m-" returns to its original form
"e)n", since the vowel gives our mouth a chance to relax.
