" Somewhere along the line, somebody at Leica said that Leica estimates the digital medium format market at 10,000 units per year. Fact or fiction? Who knows... Anyway, Leica is aiming for 10% market share or better, thus 1,000+ units per year. That equates to $20M per year plus lens and accessory sales, so $50,000,000 per year in S2 sales is my uneducated guesstimate." Source:<http://www.pebbleplace.com/Personal/Medium_Format_Blog/Entries/2009/ 7/15_THE_LEICA_S2_dSLR.html> A Target of 10% Market share or 1000 cameras per year is not exactly hitting a home run in user acceptance........ If you believe the data......even Leica sees the S2 as a small niche camera in a small market. Leica is serious.... but maybe the market is not big enough even for a niche player in this market....... Frank Filippone Red735i at earthlink.net Leica clocked up total sales of 70.8 million euros with "system cameras" in the last financial year. The way I see it, that means M9 and S2.
