(and what of those iconic photographers who regularly sent their film back
to publications and agencies without seeing their own work until it appeared
in a publication?)

The history of photography is filled with every manner of success (and
failure); and it's, thankfully, rich with every sort of practitioner
including: printmakers, scientists, documentarians, aestheticians, poets,
fashionistas, conceptualists, graphic artists, painters, ambulance chasers,
portraitists, naturalists, street shooters, generalists and specialists (and
in every conceivable combination), who excel within their own interests and
delights.
