FWIW Jayanand I bought the Canon 28-70 zoom which most of the photogs I saw 
at Grands Prix used in the pits. I almost never use it because of the 
weight. I use a 35/50/85 prime combination about 50x as often.
YMMV
I wish I had saved my money...
