Combine that with the edge to edge sharpness without a glass holder (which you need for the Nikon) and you just can't compare. Plus I can scan 4x5. I had a Nikon 9000 and now have a 646. No measurements needed; just looking at the files shows a significant difference. So just my experience... I made the mistake of scanning one of my negs with an Imacon. You can see every corner of every piece of grain! My Epson flatbed scans...well there is grain there.
