Can I suggest that anyone who is really interested - even a bit - joins the participants (around 400, 000 of them) at <https://login.zooniverse.org/login?lang=en&service=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.galaxyzoo.org> what NASA don't say is that black hole shutdown hadn't been observed until Hanny found the voorwerp. This has enabled us to determine (a) that it happens and (b) "exactly" when the hole shut down. Zooniverse/GZ participants are pdoing real science.
