I am prompted to pass on a "photo truth" that my wife passed on to me long ago. Her family survived the 1930s taking 4-for-a-dime direct positive photos at fairs and carnivals. They worked a circuit from Wisconsin to Mississippi. To make their African-American customers happy, they had to adjust the exposure from what they normally used, in order to bring out the facial features in a more pleasant manner. You might try an extra shot about one stop lighter.
