Herons used to wade around the shallow areas of the lake all the time. Once, I saw one grab a gigantic Bluegill. It was HUGE, about 8 inches long and 5 inches tall. A heron's neck is skinny, about 3 inches thick. The bird carried the fish onto the shore and swallowed it. The bluegill made a bulge sliding down the heron's neck. It had barely disappeared into the bird's body when the heron's head darted down to the ground and grabbed a fat bullfrog! -- Chris Crawford Fine Art Photography Fort Wayne, Indiana 260-486-2581 http://www.chriscrawfordphoto.com My portfolio http://blog.chriscrawfordphoto.com My latest work! http://www.facebook.com/pages/Christopher-Crawford/48229272798 Become a fan on Facebook On 2/13/11 10:28 PM, "jack maddox" <jmaddox01 at suddenlink.net> wrote: > The reflection makes the photo for me.
