If you want to look at this aspect, remember that the politicians that NEED to work this out, are elected ( substitute the word.. employed.....) at the whim of the people that they would hurt by doing ANYTHING to the present pension system, except leave it alone or improve the benefits...... Their fear is that if they try to discuss these issues, ,they lose their jobs..... The BIG difference to the private sector...... where this kind of discussion usually get the management guy a raise......
