Indeed. While everyone is focused on cost, it seems to be unspoken in the 
arguments that tax revenues have declined from 21% of GDP pre-Regan to 16% 
of 
GDP now.
Relative to revenues, everything now seem so out of kilter cost wise...

Well, you see, that's exactly the problem here.

People who can afford private health care and private education want to cut
taxes, and get rid of the public health and education sectors and leave
everyone else to fend for themselves.

In a nutshell; I'm not making that up.
