Americans take pot shots at random European countries like they don't have a sense of humor or something there but I bet every single one does. About the funniest flick I ever saw was Japanese. I was in a funny mood tonight and I thought the lady behind the checkout counter was going to give me my stuff for free. Comedy is serious business here in NY. No less so than rapping. I got a free mocha from Starbucks when I first got here because I just was really on and they really liked my act. Its that first line which is really important. -------------------- Mark William Rabiner > From: Douglas Sharp <douglas.sharp at gmx.de> > Reply-To: Leica Users Group <lug at leica-users.org> > Date: Sat, 19 Mar 2011 00:56:46 +0100 > To: Leica Users Group <lug at leica-users.org> > Subject: Re: [Leica] German language comedians > > That as well, some of the Bavarians really need > subtitles on TV - but most are well-known nationwide > (and in Austria, Switzerland, Liechtenstein and > Luxembourg) In fact, Austria has some of the best > satirists and some really weird comedians of the likes > of Alf Pocher - whose stage act makes you think he > should have been put in an asylum. > > Stand-up comedy is really big business in Germany these > days, a few comedians even fill football stadiums with > audiences of 50,000 or more. > > One of the most famous comedians in the German language > region is Swiss - Emil Steinberger - a master of > sketches and films that hold a mirror up to the Swiss. > > The German marketing and advertising industry has > discovered humour too: > > Here are a few: > http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MyFAVMxb8IQ > > And an absolute classic (although it was made in Norway): > http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5Z_3AhZh8Y0 > > Dutch TVCs aren't bad, either - *warning! filthy > language!!* > http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KOwjO63BcaM > > > Cheers > Douglas > > On 18.03.2011 20:26, Mark Rabiner wrote: >> I thought Germany had different comics for different regions with >> different >> German dialects? >> >> >> -------------------- >> Mark William Rabiner >> >> >> >>> From: Douglas Sharp<douglas.sharp at gmx.de> >>> Reply-To: Leica Users Group<lug at leica-users.org> >>> Date: Fri, 18 Mar 2011 19:21:15 +0100 >>> To: Leica Users Group<lug at leica-users.org> >>> Subject: Re: [Leica] Nazi fascination >>> >>> Funny that nobody in Germany has ever heard of him.
