I, too have had very good experiences with Dell--we used them at work for many years. There was a period where some bad capacitors got into the supply chain, resulting in a few fried motherboards around 2005-6. Aside from that, my experience has been like Sonny's, they went obsolete long before they died. The Optiplexes in particular seem really built to last. I've made my decision--I got a good deal on a recent Optiplex 980 refurb with i7-870, 4 gigs RAM and a separate video card, plus a 23" "ultra-sharp" (IPS) monitor. So I went that route. Now we'll see. --Peter > LOL! > Cheers > Jayanand On Thu, Mar 24, 2011 at 9:27 AM, Sonny Carter <sonc.hegr at gmail.com> wrote: > On Wed, Mar 23, 2011 at 9:58 PM, Jayanand Govindaraj <jayanand at gmail.com > >wrote: > > > Peter, > > Dell has the most awful and atrocious after sales service you can > imagine, > > at least here in India > > > > Yeah, that's because all the best phone techs work the night shift for the > US market, Jay.
