I use Vuescan to scan the neg 3 times (the 6x9 mask is actually more like 6x8.25 so 2 scans would not cover the entire 17cm...), and then I use Photoshop to merge them, then I spot it with Spot Healing Brush and then import it into LR for further processing. Anyway, somewhere along the line, LR decides that this is a tinted image, but since I like it a lot, I haven't bothered to "fix" it yet.
