I was reluctant to say this, figuring it would be adding insult to 
injury. But I'm willing to be the second to say it: Macs give far 
fewer problems. That is not to say they are problem-free. But the 
routine automatic upgrades have never been known to cause problems.

I did have a minor problem when I did a big jump of an upgrade from 
Tiger to Snow Leopard so as to be able to run Lightroom3. Suddenly 
printers stopped working. A friend tipped me off that the printer 
drivers and associated software were no longer stand-alone 
applications as in the past; they had been incorporated into System 
Preferences under the heading Printer/Fax.
