I find that it's sharper and more contrasty than my fully CLAd late DR Summicron, which is certainly no slouch. The Russian lens is also MUCH lighter, since it's an aluminum barrel. Today I spoke with a young lady who wanted to get into Leica usage, but was put off by the prices. I told her that these days nice, usable M2s were selling for about $600-800. For lenses, you can't go wrong with a Sweeney-adjusted Jupiter 8 (50/2), and a Jupiter 12 (35/2.8). These two lenses would set you back about $200-300 these days, with all the trimmings (including a LTM-to-bayonet adaptor).
