The bride was radiant; the flowers were spectacular (courtesy of my talented florist wife - now retired, except for special family occasions); and a great time was had by all. Except I had to shoot the wedding with a loaned Sony P&S (albeit with a Zeiss lens) - in Polish, because I couldn't find the language menu. Burglars had smashed their way into our hotel townhouse the night before while we were having dinner nearby. We were lucky - all that was lifted was my bagful of Nikons (it could have been Leicas), plus my wife's purse, which was recovered next morning minus money but otherwise intact. What really hurts is not the loss of the cameras and some very good lenses, but that I didn't have the tools to do the job I was intending to do. So it goes. I'm sure there must be some similar stories knocking round in the Group. In this case the timing was lousy.... Best from criminalised Ireland.
