Subject: [Leica] Would you buy a Leicaflex SL2 these days?

I have one of the early to mid production R8's and never had any problems
with it and definitely no film scratching. I did have to have it updated,
firmware wise so it would work correctly with the DMR.

Just one of those weird Leica things.

Turn it around, why is the R9 selling for so much more than the R8, it
is virtually the same camera.

But, tangible reasons - the R9 has a lock button for the mode selector,
and a lot of the electronic bugs in early R8's, and film scratching,
were solved in the R9. So, the R9 is more reliable.

Reliability is worth the extra bucks.
