Choose the right gear for conditions and expected requirements (long lenses, macro, etc.) And I've always carried a bag (as well as a camera). The bag contains wallet, business cards, checkbook, notebook, pens, M8, extra lens or sometimes two, iPad, sometimes the SD24 flash, sometimes the table top tripod. That bag goes with me even if I take a larger bag full of DSLR kit. Two of the larger bags actually allow me to but the M8-Day-bag inside them.
