I got the first scans back from having the color neg or XP2-2 C41 ran by Duggal or somebody on this day that year. A pro lab that would give you scans with your negs. "What do you want egg in your beer?" "No Scans with my negs." I then proceeded to; for me; make some remarkable images with the camera. The first one is a Scooter bike messenger person who with much exuberance insisted I take their picture. In some ways making it easy for me. As otherwise I would probably not have. Especially as I don't tend to get into too many strangers faces with my camera. This was in Manhattan Valley where I'd just moved to. Right under Morningside heights. The second one I was walking through midtown pre focused and seeing I think if could take pictures with the IIIF with the gloves I had or with freezing hands and in a split second this happened and I just went click. As I was pre focused and pre exposure set up probably at F8 and 100th I was able to get the dollar going into the cup. You can almost read the serial number on the dollar. And this guy was walking fast and did not break stride down the sidewalk and I was right behind him. Though not realizing he'd be doing anything photo worthy. Two of the best shots I've ever taken in my life. Was it the camera itself which elevated me to this other level of work. Don't know. I'm also enthused with the idea of living in NY. And a real winter approaching. With snow. And weather. Other than the gray rain of Portland 8 months of the year. http://gallery.leica-users.org/v/lugalrabs/onthisAutumnday/071218_203331.jpg .html or http://tinyurl.com/6uzcydo -- Mark R. http://gallery.leica-users.org/v/lugalrabs/onthisAutumnday/
