Back up often, using the SW the USB drive maker gives you. Do it to 2 backup drives. Weekly and after each addition/session. This last part is important. UNPLUG/POWER DOWN the drives if you are not actively using them. Unplugged drives rarely fail! If you are really neurotic like my brain injured buddy, you will keep one backup in the trunk of your car ( where it is hot, bumpy and otherwise not favorable to electronics) or in another safe place.) Every couple/3 years, replace the old technology drives with new ones. It is a cheap upgrade/insurance policy. The odds of 3 drives failing at the same time, if not all 3 plugged in at the same time, are about zero. Frank Filippone, Former WD employee.
