You think in this day and age that 55 photos/battery is acceptable? I
suspect that this is far less than it should do so will be testing....

Me me this would not be a deal breaker even if it is a bit odd.
I never head out with a camera. I head out with a camera with a little photo
bag to put it in. most bags have a front pocket. That's where I put my one
or two spare batteries if this is a camera which needs them. In this case
this camera needs two. Its a little added weight but I've dealt with it
before and I can deal with it again.
I used to do the same with my first cell phones.
One battery I'd have would be the extra thick kind.
