I have cleaned out a couple of camera stores for friends, and having a box (even with the wrong s/n) can increase the value of an item on Ebay by $50-75. Something psychological. Also, if you have original packaging, it is a lot easier to ship items if you sell them later; most product packaging incorporates enough styrofoam to almost act as a standalone package.
