Would one way round your lens recognition problem be to do the following:

1. Set upa keyword for each lens that would not be exported by unpicking the 
'Export' box on the keyword, then

2. Set up a Smart Collection to recognise that keyword.

This way any shot with that keyword added would automatically go into the 
Smart Collection and thus enable you to find all shots with that lens 
despite it not being in the Exif data.
