I remember clearly where I was on the morning of 9/11, and the bombing of the Murrah building here in OKC (frankly, a little "fatigued" from a reception the night before and jumping out of bed when I heard the blast). But OTOH I remember even more clearly the greatest days of my life: The details when I proposed and my wife said yes. The births of our children. The day our kids pulled a U-Haul out of the driveway for a job and apartment and started cash-flowing. I even remember the vintage of champagne. So it's not all negative.
