Nathan, I have bought two M9-Ps (from the Leica Mayfair shop) in recent 
months. Both came with the battery as described - cyrillic writing, etc. 
Whatever the manufacturing provenance, these are the official Leica 
batteries at present and, I suspect, nobody has been cheated.

Incidentally, I also have an original battery from the M8 days in late 2006 
and, despite (maybe because of), regular use, it still holds a good charge 
and works perfectly well.
