The high sensitivity of the MM body at ISO320 means that it is quite possible to use a shutter speed as fast as 1/2000 at 5.6 outdoors with no tripod. And don't forget, MM's sensor is equivalent to a 36MP Bayer sensor. I'm sure that an S2 with a 70mm lens can produce an equally spectacular result, but the latter weighs and costs a lot more than the MM/APO50 combo. Also, 1/500 at 8.0 (for the equivalent DoF) at ISO 160 on an S2 is riskier if handheld, too. While I do want an S2 for color work, but for BW, MM with APO50 is a very compelling alternative to S2/70 at half the cost and weight. However, one S2 with a few lenses is cheaper than an MM, M9, APO 50, and a couple of APO lenses.
