[Author Prev] [Author Next] [Thread Prev] [Thread Next] [Author Index] [Topic Index] [Home] [Search]The cynical answer is that removing the compression option saved a couple hundred K of firmware size, allowing the company to downgrade the flash ram from 1gb to 512mb, thereby saving two dollars per camera and guaranteeing no major firmware improvements ever. The truth is probably that the low cost of SD memory eliminates one reason to compress. I'm just kidding about manufacturing cost savings.
