The problem with simplistically comparing sensor noise to film grain is that
grain exists over the entire image.  To the same degree.  Noise  only exists
in the shadows.

The effect is different.  Better?  Worse?  Different.

Farkas did a nice review.  Same lens, same Fstop, same baseplate even (
which probably means a tripod), same focus spot.  Different camera.  Results
were shown in a way that makes it easy to compare. 1 pixel on screen = 1
pixel from the file. No JPGs.  Nice job.
