I bought Steve Simon's book, "The Passionate Photographer", today, in print yet. My iPad says, this book will not display on your device. I like his comment that his wife, with her little point and shoot, finds colors and textures that elude him...my experience exactly! -----Original Message----- From: lug-bounces+kcarney1=cox.net at leica-users.org [mailto:lug-bounces+kcarney1=cox.net at leica-users.org] On Behalf Of Robert Baron Sent: Sunday, July 15, 2012 6:13 PM To: Leica Users Group Subject: Re: [Leica] Granite, Oklahoma Nice shots. I really like the portrait of the artist. Did you drive up to the prison? It is very old and somewhat imposing. I was in Granite and drove by to the prison when looking for themed shots for a Steve Simon workshop at Quartz Mountain Arts Institute in southwest Oklahoma 6 or 7 years ago but I got there under excreble light coming from the wrong direction and had to look elsewhere. I've often thought of going back but not in this hot weather, thank you. I've been in a lot of prisons (professionally, mind you) and the really great looking ones like Leavenworth are federal and the guards won't let you get anywhere near them with a camera but the attitude seems a lot more relaxed at state prisons like the one in Granite. --Bob ==On Sun, Jul 15, 2012 at 5:28 PM, Ken Carney <kcarney1 at cox.net> wrote: > Around the town of Granite, I noticed unusual metal sculptures here > and there, such as these: > > > > http://gallery.leica-users.org/v/kcarney/sculpture2_scan.jpg.html > > > > http://gallery.leica-users.org/v/kcarney/P1010006.jpg.html > > > > Someone gave me directions to the home of the artist, who was a very > interesting guy.
