The camera does it for you. And Lightroom sorts everything according to any metadata available, lens, aperture, camera used, speed - whatever you want to know. As long as you have coded lenses or remember to change the lens setting every time you change lenses ;-) I have many photos from this last trip where the EXIF says I used the 90/2.0 but I can tell from looking at the photo that I used the 24/2.8. Sometimes it's obvious. Sometimes not. One of these days I'll have all of my lenses coded. It does come in handy when you are doing lectures to be able to tell which photo was made with which lens, especially if you are comparing lenses or focal lengths or apertures.
