The bright magenta & green color blotches in the background are the result of spherochromatic aberration and distract from the gray bird. I see this phenomenon in my beloved 560mm f/6.8 Telyt too (I don't see this in any of the APO lenses I've used). I try to avoid using lenses with this problem when there are high-contrast objects in the background such as twigs or blades of grass against a dark background (or bright points of light).
