In answer to the link that Geoff posted, Kilby is a paid fan boy. The
reality is that going forward Adobe becomes a far less attractive product
as if I don't pay Guido every month the program goes away. In the old
universe, if I agreed to a price for something then I could use that
product or service as long as I found use for it. Now, if I decide that I
no longer need Guido's services then the product goes away; in the old days
I just kept the program on the spare hard drive and could reopen it if I
wanted to use it for something.

I suspect that the MBA's at Adobe were seduced by two things; first the
large amount of revenue actually lost by the cheap stolen Adobe products
available from many street vendors in China(and other places) as well as
the giddiness of a constant revenue stream as opposed to the staccato
revenue stream of new launch spike followed by a steady decline until the
new launch.

For complete informational services, I was one who was polled by Adobe
about the new pricing model and given a large array of choices on how to
acquire their products. It seems that my input was monetarily not
acceptable.

Richard was correct, vote with your wallet and don't use Adobe products
going forward: also actively support those companies that provide a similar
product with a pricing model that better fits your needs. If enough people
realize the huge window that exists now to enter the imaging market place
maybe there will be some serious competition. My suggestion would be to
start giving away my new software to college kids so that they use my
product which in time becomes the new standard. Can you say WordStar.
