I can't find in the billions of message where Frank made that remark, but
Frank nails the problem: the major problem of cloud subscription model is
that while the software publishers will not put it in writing, there is a
reasonable expectation that the software you license today, should work 10
years from now if you happen to have the exact same machine and assuming
the hardware doesn't die and you have the OS and other software etc. With
the cloud model, that assumption is gone.
