The only times I may use an R lens on the Canon if I need: 1) the full view of the 21mm. 2) f:1.4 and high ISO otherwise - the Canon 24-70 and 70-200 perform in all their auto glory well enough on that body; and manual focusing on the 5D simply sucks (for me).
