Subject: [Leica] "Made in Germany" claim

Many countries require that the place of origin of a product be 
indicated on the item or disclosed in its advertizing. Since the USA 
and the UK represent large marketing areas the disclosure is usually 
made in English. In addition, indication of the place of origin of a 
product may also serve as a surrogate indication of quality (or lack 
thereof). So the phrase "Made in Germany" on a French website about the 
Leica Mini m would not be unusual. A full description of the US

Do any of you remember the marking "Made in Occupied Japan" engraved on 
Canon and Nikon cameras of the 1950s?
