They are > different by definition. agreed that they're different by definition. that doesn't preclude stocking replacement parts; and making repair schematics available to those who earn their living repairing cameras. nor does it imply a premium company should simply throw up their hands when sent a 5 year old dead body; that's died due to design and/or mfg faults. The fellow who bought my Canon 10D is still using it. I know of a whole lot of "old" digital cameras performing just as they did when new. They're just banged up now.
