If all you're interested in is knowing the time any accurate watch will do.

Serious photographers, whether professional or serious amateur,
have far more than one simple criteria in mind when choosing equipment.
Sports and wildlife photographers look for speed of lenses, of focus, of 
frames per second.
Landscape photographers may look for camera movements, sensor size, etc.

Gross generalizations and false equivalency adds nothing to any conversation.
