I thought the images were a rare view of a wildfire the size of Chicago; as the video Steve posted was heart-breaking, so are some of these images. Though a natural part of the ecosystem's life cycle in this neck of the woods, I'm unsure how much was caused by the "Smokey Bear" campaign that caused large accumulations of underbrush. Burns much hotter than nature intends and destroys old growth that normally is stimulated to new growth from the natural burning cycles... Let's hope all are safe, including much of these beautiful lands.
